THRIVE at Salem First Baptist church is about creating experiences that incite wonder, provoke discovery, and fuel passion in the heart of every teen. To help students see God for who He is and trust Him, see themselves the way God sees them to mature out of His definition, and love others the way God does.
We desire to bring together leaders, volunteers and parents to accomplish this and see teens come to a personal and growing relationship with Jesus Christ. We believe to have a lasting impact is to see the light of the church be combined with the heart of the family to reach this next generation. We also believe in the power of incarnational ministry, going where students are at, building relationships and earning the right to be heard.
We have an incredible team of adults who want to see your teenager discover and live out of a vibrant relationship with Jesus Christ. We are here to support and cheer you on as you disciple your children!
OUR TEAM

Tuesday Night Thrive is a large group gathering where it’s our desire to fuel a passion for God and for loving others in the lives of students. You can expect fun games, laughter, worship, food, and an encouraging message that is grounded in the truth of God’s Word and connects with students where they are at. The night is topped off with LifeGroups where students are heard, known, and discuss the message with a trusted adult who believes in them. This is a great place to bring friends and explore a relationship with Christ.
LIFEGROUPS (SMALL GROUPS)
We believe community is how people grow. LifeGroups are our answer to this. They help students stay engaged and relationally connected, both to the church and to Christ. These are gender and grade specific. Within LifeGroups students get to process what they have heard and experienced in a lesson with their peers while being guided and encouraged to apply it personally by a trusted, consistent adult. Our LifeGroup leaders are always looking for ways to partner with parents and be another voice saying the same thing. If you want to know who your child’s LifeGroup leader is and or ways to connect with them, please contact Caleb Ivanitsky.
CAMPS/RETREATS
Something happens when we are taken away from the pressures of everyday life, have fun with friends and trusted adults, and hear the message of God’s love in terms we can understand. Something happens when what we are learning moves into experience. This is the desire of our camps and retreats. So many have said they gave their life to Christ or owned their relationship with Him at camp or retreat. With two retreats a year and camp during the summer we have seen this to be true. Check the calendar for when the next one is. If you feel God leading you to help support students financially to attend who otherwise wouldn’t please contact Caleb Ivanitsky.
MISSIONS
THRIVE aspires to give teens the opportunity to expand their worldview through the lense of missions! From local to international trips, these opportunities help students discover God's heart for the world. This spring break we are taking a a team to the Dominican Republic with TIME Ministries, a long time partner of SFB.
