Prayer
Jesus once stated that one of his visions for the local church was that they would be a house of prayer for all nations (Matthew 21:13). It is a challenging and exciting vision. It is challenging because prayer is not easy. It takes discipline to pray. It requires faith, perseverance and a practiced dependence that is not easy for our “do-it-yourself” attitude. But we are committed to that vision, so we invite you to join us. We are excited about this vision because it is one that Jesus clearly has given us. We are passionate about being a house of prayer. We are excited to learn in the school of prayer. We are open for God to develop a greater faith and dependence expressed in a community marked and led by prayer. It is a great challenge but it is also an exciting vision that Jesus has given us.
As we abandon our own desires in submission to the One who knows our circumstances far better than we ever could and who “knows what you need before you ask” (Matthew 6:8), our prayers reach their highest level. Prayers offered in submission to the Divine will, therefore, are always answered positively, whether offered by one person or a thousand.
“God will do as a result of the praying of the humblest one here what otherwise He would not do. God will do in answer to the prayer of the weakest one here what otherwise he could not do.” S.D. Gordon
